KS2 SATs: Fractions Revision Guide

A quick refresher on fractions ahead of the KS2 SATs maths paper.

What you need to know

Fractions describe part of a whole. The number on top is the numerator, the number on the bottom is the denominator.

Adding fractions

To add fractions with the same denominator, add the numerators and keep the denominator the same.

Common mistakes

Don't add the denominators together — only the numerators change when denominators already match.
